Boston Regional Intelligence Center (BRIC)
The Boston Regional Intelligence Center (BRIC) is an award winning major urban area fusion center whose mission is to reduce crime and prevent acts of terrorism throughout the Metro Boston Homeland Security Region (MBHSR). The BRIC was established in 2005 to coordinate efforts of the nine communities in the MBHSR – or the Boston Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI). Since its inception the BRIC has become a hub for the collection, synthesis, analysis, and dissemination of strategic and tactical intelligence – often in real time – to public and private sector partners. It is a key component of the federal government’s national security and counterterrorism efforts. The BRIC is managed by the Boston Police Department’s Bureau of Intelligence and Analysis and is staffed with sworn and civilian personnel from the Boston Police Department, Massachusetts State Police, Boston Emergency Medical Services, Boston Fire Department, US Department of Homeland Security, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The BRIC has forged partnerships with numerous local, state and federal government agencies and private sector organizations, which enriches its intelligence collection, production and sharing capabilities. This ultimately empowers front-line practitioners to understand the local implications of national intelligence and enhances decision-making at all sectors and levels of government.
All BRIC operational and analytical activities are governed by strict standards to protect privacy, civil rights and civil liberties. Click here to view the BRIC’s policy.
